AMPAM Association of Manufacturers of Parts for Automotives & Motorcycles is still in her early age of life but by the grace of Allah and with the tremendous support of their members it has successfully achieved some of their preset goals. The most significant is attainment the 87% level of indigenization of motorcycle parts by their member firms. However the ultimate goal is to achieve 100% indiginization with in next one year. Three major component of motorcycle are still need to be locally vendorised i.e. crank case, front shock system and magneto, AMPAM is helping, assisting
and supporting the prominent local vendors to develop these components, hopefully by the first quarter of the next year, these locally produced components will be available to all O.E.MS in Pakistan. By the grace of Allah the number of vendor members have also been increased. Presently there are 141 members having their manufacturing / business facilities in various cities of Pakistan. AMPAM has sponsored the Autmex International Exhibition-2005 which was held at Karachi Expo Center on Jan 14/15/16 2005. This Exhibition was the first of its kind which show cased the existing locally manufactured and assembled automobiles, motor bikes and its component parts manufactured either under the foreign collaboration or totally relying on domestic resources. It also displayed the latest automobile and motor bikes models and designs from the main Auto manufacturing countries of the world.
We, at AMPAM are of the firm opinion, that the automobile industry needs to be protected and also provided the necessary incentives and all out support to expand their existing business operations and increase their manufacturing capabilities. Industry projections forecast that the current growing demand for automobiles, motorbikes and industrial vehicles such as busses, trucks and tractors will continue to rise for the next 5 to 10 years. This will be coupled with growth in Pakistan’s economy which will see the last five years of economic reforms beginning to show effects. The strategic geographical location of Pakistan will offer an excellent opportunity for the Pakistan’s automobile industry to market their products in the fast growing Central Asian Countries.
The abundance of natural and value added human resource, available in Pakistan remains currently under utilized. In order to capitalize from these unexploited resources, AMPAM will act as a catalyst to attract the foreign investments and technical collaboration. We feel AMPAM Website is a unique forum for the Pakistan Automobile, motor bikes and its parts manufacturing industry to showcase their contribution to the National economy by employing 100,000 young men and women and indirect employment to over 1,000,000 citizens of Pakistan.
